Quebec theater-goers had sex on the brain this weekend thanks to Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm, which released its Internet porn thriller Ma fille, mon ange to exceptionally high numbers across la belle province, earning $756,908 on 90 screens.

The French-language feature -- about the sordid underworld of Internet pornography -- had a per-screen average of $9,011 in markets including Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Montreal, delivering on the high expectations of AAV, which piloted a large marketing campaign prior to its release.

"The numbers for the first weekend are exceptional," said AAV president Patrick Roy in a release, adding that it's an encouraging start to the year for Quebec cinema.

Ma fille stars Karine Vanasse (Sans Elle) and Michel Côté (C.R.A.Z.Y. ) and is directed by Alexis Durand-Brault through Montreal's Remstar Productions. There are no plans yet for a release in English Canada.

The previous week saw few changes at the box office among other Canadian titles -- with Partition continuing its hold on the number one spot with a take of $90,260 for the week ending Feb. 15. The historical drama is released by Seville Pictures.

The Chinese Botanist's Daughters, meanwhile, held the number two spot for the week, taking in $14,013 for Christal Films.

Rounding out the top five for the week were the French-language documentary A force de rêves with weekly box office of $4,285, Roméo et Juliette with $3,044 and Manufactured Landscapes with $2,954.
