Dennis Hoffman has joined Vancouver-based Rainmaker Visual Effects as head of production. Hoffman is a 20-year production vet and was most recently VP/head of production at Digital Domain. He also previously spent nine years at Dream Quest Images, where he oversaw the visual effects on such films as Mighty Joe Young and Armageddon.

"As Vancouver increasingly becomes a destination for high-end visual effects, Rainmaker is pleased to have someone of Dennis' caliber and experience join us as we move into more demanding and challenging projects," said Warren Franklin, CEO of Rainmaker Entertainment, in a statement.

Rainmaker's Vancouver office is currently at work on titles including Blades of Glory, Vantage Point, Case 39, Trick 'r Treat and Hot Rod and -- in its London facility -- on Butterfly on a Wheel, and various episodes of HBO's new run of Rome.
