CTV picks up Diana concert
by: Apr 4, 2007 Print

This Canada Day will be more British than usual on CTV, which has signed on to air a day-long concert in honor of Diana, the Princess of Wales. CTV announced Wednesday that it -- together with NBC, VH1, BBC, Japan's NHK, RTL 2 in Germany and Nine Network in Australia -- will mark what would have been Diana's 46th birthday with a show from Wembley Stadium in London.

The concert, organized by her sons Prince William and Prince Harry, will include performances by Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran and the English National Ballet, plus other acts to be announced later. This August will mark the tenth anniversary of Diana's death.

In a statement, CTV programming chief Susanne Boyce said it's "fitting" that the concert lands on Canada Day. "The Princess not only shared a birthday with Canadians but also an affinity for making the world a better place in which to live," said Boyce.
