* Andrew Johnson has been appointed the new commissioning editor of CBC Newsworld's documentary series Rough Cuts. Johnson worked in independent doc production for 10 years before joining the CBC in 1994 to develop the Gemini Award-winning program FutureWorld, hosted by Evan Solomon.

* Steven Pasternak has joined Fireworks Entertainment in the newly created position of general counsel. Pasternak joins the company from the firm of Hall Pasternak, where he provided outside counsel to Fireworks.

* The Directors Guild of Canada, B.C. District Council has appointed Crawford Hawkins managing director. Hawkins is a director member of the guild and presided as chairman of the B.C. District Council from 1996 to 2001.

* Steve Wyatt has been appointed Global Television's manager of B.C. operations. Wyatt, the former news director for BCTV News on Global, replaces Jack Tomik, who was appointed president of CanWest Media Sales in early October.

* Brad Phillips has been appointed VP and general manager at CKVU, Chum Television's newly acquired Vancouver TV station. Phillips is a former VP and general manager of radio stations 104.5 CHUM-FM/1050 CHUM-AM.
