Lifetime MOW takes advantage of regional credit

Vancouver - Production runs Feb. 22 to March 9 on the Lifetime television movie Criminal Intent, a crime drama about a businessman accused of murdering his ex-wife. Vancouver actor Sebastian Spence (First Wave) stars with Vanessa Angel (Popstar). The low-budget production, which will air on CHUM as a second window in about 18 months, will shoot in Langley and Maple Ridge to take advantage of the regional production tax-credit bonus. Jorge Erstwhiler is the director. Ian Edwards

Bad boys in Quebec

Montreal - Six of the baddest bad guys in the world meet unexpectedly at a secluded manor in the Quebec countryside in Last Hour, an English-language feature from France, currently shooting just outside Montreal.

The service shoot is a coproduction from Les Films de Cinema and Brand New Films, both of France. Pascal Judelewicz (Les Oiseaux du ciel) produces with executive producer Yves Comte.

Although Comte says Last Hour is not a big-budget film, the cast boasts Hollywood stars including William Baldwin, Baltimore-born rapper DMX (Never Die Alone), Michael Madsen (Kill Bill: Vol. 2) and David Carradine, as well as Spain's Mónica Cruz (Liolà).

Principal photography started Feb. 21 under writer/director Pascal Kaubet (EX) and is set to wrap April 3. Distributors have yet to be announced. Laura Bracken
