Vikings invade Vancouver

Vancouver - Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) has signed to star in the remake of the Norwegian thriller Pathfinder, and is in B.C. until December with director Marcus Nispel (2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and costars Karl Urban (Doom) and Moon Bloodgood (Eight Below). The story, set a thousand years ago during a series of conflicts between natives and Vikings, follows a young Norseman who is adopted by a native tribe. The original was nominated for a best foreign-language Oscar in 1988. The redo by Phoenix Pictures (The 6th Day) is due in theaters next year via 20th Century Fox. Sean Davidson
