by: Feb 20, 2006 Print

Ottawa - GAPC Entertainment is currently in production on a new one-hour documentary for CHUM Television and SCN called Who's Afraid of Happy Endings?, about the lucrative world of romance novels.

According to producer Hoda Elatawi, the doc will follow three novelists at various stages of their careers as they navigate through the billion-dollar industry. It will offer insight into the business side of romantic fiction, featuring interviews with established writers such as Nora Roberts (Blue Smoke).

The doc is directed, written and coproduced by Christine Alexiou and Joanna D'Angelo. Funding for the $230,000 project has come from CHUM, SCN, the CTF, Rogers Documentary Fund, the Canadian Independent Film and Video Fund, and tax credits.

Elatawi says the film will shoot in March and will air first on CHUM's Bravo! in the fall.
