+ Alliance Vivafilm's De père en flic made an appearance on Parliament Hill, where Heritage Minister James Moore and other MPs screened the Quebec box-office hit. The high-flying Père has grossed almost $11 million since its release in July. Moore himself arranged a similar event in the spring, putting his colleagues in front of One Week.

+ Ivan Reitman will be feted at the upcoming Whistler Film Festival, which plans to toast him on Dec. 4 with a lifetime achievement tribute and then put him to work as the president of the 2009 Borsos Jury.

+ Some 50 films found distributors at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to organizers, who trumpeted TIFF's "impressive" 10 days of deal-making. The fete saw U.S. and international deals for titles including notables Creation, Chloe, Get Low, Micmacs, Lebanon and A Single Man.

+ So You Think You Can Dance Canada ended its second run with 1.7 million Canucks tuning in for the two-hour wrap on Oct. 25. Talent-spotting for season three begins this month in Toronto.
